
Three educational technology innovations from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) drew strong interest from visitors at the ASEAN TVET Conference 2025, held at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur, on 13 August 2025. (UMPSA News)
Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, visited the UMPSA booth and was briefed on a trio of research-based products designed to strengthen teaching and learning in technical and vocational education. (UMPSA News)
The first innovation, DreBar, is an autonomous mobility platform developed by Associate Professor Ts Dr Muhammad Aizzat Zakaria from the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (FTKPM). DreBar is engineered to optimise driverless movement with potential applications in logistics and technical education environments, reflecting the growing role of autonomous systems in TVET and industry. UMPSA also showcased DewBoard, a TVET teaching kit created by Nurul Wahidah Arshad of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE). DewBoard is an electronic learning kit that takes students from fundamental electronics through to connected systems and the Internet of Things, enabling learners at different levels to build practical competencies that align with rapidly evolving technology trends. The third exhibit, Soccer Robot, was developed by Idris Mat Sahat from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA). Designed as a STEM learning tool, the robot integrates mechanical design, electronics and programming through a football-themed platform that helps students grasp core engineering and coding concepts in an engaging way. Associate Professor Ts Dr Muhammad Aizzat, who also serves as Director of UMPSA’s Centre of Innovation and Technology Transfer, emphasised that all three technologies are already being used as teaching and learning kits within the university. He highlighted that this demonstrates UMPSA’s commitment to producing innovations that are not only research outputs, but also directly support student learning and industry-relevant skills, in line with the national TVET agenda.
